A diner that still refills the coffee

Eggs, a counter, a refill
I wanted a booth and a laminated menu and I got both. That is increasingly a luxury.
A diner that still refills the coffee
MINUTECRITIC · Jun 12, 2026
The diner is not dying so much as it is being replaced by places that charge diner prices for avocado. This one still has a counter, a waitress who has seen every version of you, and coffee that is not a tasting note. I got eggs. They were eggs. Perfect.
If your town still has one, use it. That is the review and also the civic advice. When it is gone, you will eat breakfast in a fast-casual bowl and wonder why the week feels worse.
Go in the morning. Sit at the counter if you are alone. Order the thing that comes with toast.

The opening-Sunday sports bar
Restaurants/Sep 13, 2026
A sports bar on opening Sunday is a theater with worse sightlines
TVs in every direction, a menu that exists to justify the screens, and a room that scores the slate instead of a plate.

The last patio that still feels like a plan
A table outside is a reservation and a weather bet. This is the last week the bet is still the point.

The layover meal
I ate a burger under fluorescent light and it was exactly what it was. I am not mad.
