The fast-casual Mediterranean thesis
A bowl with a lot of small decisions. Some of them are good. All of them are a line.
Cava

Cava is the argument that you can eat 'well' without sitting down. Sometimes you can. The spicy eggplant is the reason I go. The rest is a choose-your-own-adventure that ends in tahini. I have never had a bad bowl. I have also never had a great one.
As a restaurant it is a system. Systems are useful. They are also why dinner started to feel like a software update. Use it on a weekday. Dress up for something else on Saturday.
Fine when you need vegetables in a hurry. Not a night out. Not a secret either.

TVs in every direction, a menu that exists to justify the screens, and a room that scores the slate instead of a plate.

The last patio that still feels like a plan
A table outside is a reservation and a weather bet. This is the last week the bet is still the point.

The layover meal
I ate a burger under fluorescent light and it was exactly what it was. I am not mad.
