A festival Sunday rate is a movie ticket with a bed attached
Toronto is mid-fest. The room is no longer a place to sleep. It is a line item in someone else's premiere.
TIFF-week hotel pricing

Festival hotels do not sell nights. They sell being near a carpet. Sunday in Toronto is day four of that market. The rate does not care that the guest is tired. It cares that the neighborhood is briefly famous. Dynamic pricing learned this from airlines and then found a better costume.
There is nothing mysterious about the product. A clean room near a venue, priced as if the pillow were a credential. If the work requires it, it is a cost of doing the week. If the work does not, it is a souvenir. Score the surcharge, not the thread count.
If the screening is the point, pay for the screening. The inflated Sunday rate is a surcharge on proximity.

The three-night minimum
The room is not the story. The stay rules are the story. They always are, the week before a holiday.

A free night that was not free
I 'paid' with points and still did math at the desk. The math is the stay.
