A room that faces a mall that faces a river
Pretty, pricey, and you will eat downstairs because that is the design.
A Wharf hotel, Washington · Washington, D.C.

The Wharf is D.C. trying to have a waterfront that photographs. The hotel I stayed in understood that assignment. Nice lobby. A view of other people enjoying the view. The room was comfortable and a little proud of the neighborhood it did not invent.
I had a good sleep and an expensive breakfast. Fine. If you live here, you do not need this hotel. If you are visiting, it is a clean, slightly generic way to be near the water.
Stay if you want to walk out into a planned neighborhood. Skip if you wanted the city, not the development.

A festival Sunday rate is a movie ticket with a bed attached
Toronto is mid-fest. The room is no longer a place to sleep. It is a line item in someone else's premiere.

The three-night minimum
The room is not the story. The stay rules are the story. They always are, the week before a holiday.

A free night that was not free
I 'paid' with points and still did math at the desk. The math is the stay.
