The Portrait Gallery is the rare museum that works if you are not 'a museum person.' Faces, a covered courtyard, air conditioning that feels like grace in July. I looked at people who made the country and people who made trouble, and the labels did not yell at me.

Go without a plan. The plan will appear. That is a cultural experience, not a checklist.
