The booth is the show, for better and worse

Monday Night Football is supposed to be a national window. What it is now is a game plus a celebrity booth plus a production that is terrified of silence. I like football. I like some of these people. I do not like being told what I just saw as if I left the room.

When the game is good, none of this matters. When the game is a slog, the booth becomes the content, and that is how you get a three-hour infomercial with downs. Mute is a feature.

Watch if you already care about the teams. Do not come for the analysis. Come for the game and forgive the rest.
