The football app tax

To watch the games you already paid for, buy two more products. That is the consumer story of the week.

The consumer service of late August is a flowchart: which app has which games, which bundle includes the Sunday package, which extra fee is 'required for access.' YouTube, a live-TV clone, a league pass, a team app that is just a store. The football is the bait. The subscriptions are the product.

This is not a review of the sport. It is a review of the receipt. The sport is fine. The receipt is a small novel. If a household already has one live-TV login, stay there. Adding a second 'just for football' is how a $12 sandwich becomes a $27 event, except the sandwich is a Sunday. Score: skip the extras. Watch less, on purpose.

Pick one bundle and mourn the rest. The sport is not the problem. The receipt is.
