Beyoncé's country year, after the year
The record is still bigger than the argument people wanted to have about it.
Beyoncé, Cowboy Carter (2024)
MINUTECRITIC · Apr 12, 2026
Cowboy Carter got argued about by people who did not finish it. I finished it. It is long. It is a history lesson and a flex and a bunch of actual songs. Texas Hold 'Em was the single. The album is the rest of the house.
Two years on, the novelty is gone and the writing is still there. That is the test. Put it on a drive. Do not put it on to win a conversation.
Play it as an album, not as a culture war. The songs hold up. The discourse did not.

The lawn, the merch, the 9:40 start. Summer music is a weather system, and it is about to break.

A mid-size DC show

A room, not a livestream
I paid too much to stand in a room that smelled like beer and a PA. I would do it again.
