Tents, tote bags, a signature

A book festival

Book festivals are part flea market, part church, part excuse to be outside with people who still like sentences. I stood in a line that was polite, which felt like an artifact. The talk I went for was good. The tote bag was inevitable.

If you only buy books online, go once. It will recalibrate you. Then you can go back to clicking. I did.

Pick two events, not seven. Buy a book from a person at a table. That is the whole civic action.
