Weeknight pasta kits

The $14 lie we keep buying
A refrigerated pouch promises Rome on a Tuesday. It delivers a decent Tuesday.
Weeknight pasta kits
MINUTECRITIC · May 6, 2026
The weeknight pasta kit is a short story: fresh noodles, a sauce with a proper noun, a sprig of something green to photograph. You pay for the feeling that you cooked. You mostly boiled.
Texture is the tell. Better than box dry, worse than a shop that cuts in the morning. Buy it when the day has already won. Do not build a personality around it.
Fine for a night you would have ordered worse. Not a cuisine. Not a secret.

The Week 1 grocery spread
Food/Sep 13, 2026
The Sunday spread is a format. Stop styling it like a commercial.
Wings, a tray, a dip that came from a tub. Score the logistics. The recipe is not the point.

The Labor Day cookout
Food/Sep 7, 2026
The cookout is a format. Stop asking it to be a restaurant.
Char, paper plates, a table that is also a holding area. Score the form, not a secret sauce.

Late-summer corn
Food/Aug 30, 2026
Corn, while it still means August
The last honest week of the year to eat this. After Labor Day it is a frozen vegetable in a costume.
