The document that does not look away

A war documentary that treats the camera as a responsibility, not a style.

20 Days in Mariupol (2023)

20 Days in Mariupol is journalism that had to become a film because the world would not hold still long enough for a segment. Mstyslav Chernov's footage from the siege is not arranged to thrill. It is arranged to remain.

This is not a Friday-night pick. Do not put it on in the background. That would be a second violence. I sat through it once and I have not moved on from it, which I think is the point.

Essential, and not 'content.' Watch when you can give it your full attention.
